New Codes Proposed

The City of Norman is currently evaluating codes to be updated including building, fire prevention, and property maintenance codes and considering what, if any, local amendments to the state codes may be appropriate to reflect community standards for the built environment. The City may, however, adopt amendments deemed more stringent than the state adopted codes to help assure a suitable level of health and safety in the built environment within the City of Norman.

The links below include background information about the role of the Oklahoma Uniform Building Code (OUBCC), and the City’s obligatory compliance to adhere to state codes, along with a presentation to builders and stakeholders outlining some of the proposed code changes.
