Spring Cleanup During April

The City of Norman’s residential spring cleanup kicked off on Saturday, April 1 with curbside pickup of household items for customers who have regular cart service on Mondays. Residents should have all items out by 7:30 a.m., and may place items at the curb up to a week before their scheduled collection day.



SCHEDULE

The spring cleanup for resident swith Tuesday cart service is the April 8; April 15 is for residents with Wednesday cart service. Residents with Thursday cart service will participate in the spring cleanup on April 22; and April 29 is for residents with Friday cart service.

Rural customers can participate in the collection by calling the sanitation division for an appointment at 329-1023 before April 1.

ITEMS THAT CANNOT BE ACCEPTED

Items that are not available for collection during the spring cleanup event include yard waste, remodeling or demolition debris such as bricks, lumber sheetrock or shingles. Junk cars or any hazardous waste such as tires, batteries or paint also cannot be collected. Any items with containing Freon must have the Freon properly captured by a certified technician. Cleanup items should not be placed in trash carts, wagons or wheelbarrows.

ITEMS THAT CAN BE ACCEPTED

The most commonly collected spring cleanup items include mattresses, appliances, sofas, chairs and other furniture, bags of old clothes, flower pots, and other routine household items.

TRANSER STATION DROP OFFS

Residents who prefer to haul their own household items during spring cleanup can take them to the transfer station at 3901 S. Chautauqua. The transfer station will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and free on these Saturdays for any Norman sanitation customer who shows a current utility bill or a driver’s license with a Norman address.

For those in the rural area who have City of Norman trash service, there will also be containers set up to dispose of items on Saturday, April 22 at the American Legion at 156th and SH-9 and at Denver Corner at 10808 E. Alameda. Customers will need to show a trash bill or a current driver’s license.

Commercial construction debris is not included in the spring cleanup but will be accepted at the transfer facility at the normal gate rate. Larger limbs and trunks are also accepted at the transfer station, and yard waste that meets size requirements can be taken to the compost facility.
