Water's Worth It Poster Contest

Student Poster Contest, OPENS!

The City of Norman Environmental Control Advisory Board (ECAB) is excited to announce that the “2018 Water’s Worth It Poster Contest“ is open. To teach and encourage sustainable conservation practices, ECAB invites Kindergarten through 5th grade teachers to submit student artwork. Submissions will be accepted until March 12, 2018. Winners will be announced during the 2nd Friday Art Walk in April.

“At ECAB, we believe that water conservation and protection begins with educating children,” said Contest Chair, Larissa Balzer. “Debris and litter scattered along Oklahoma roadways, parks, lakes, and streams are a preventable source of pollution. We want to engage Norman elementary students to become more proactive in their understanding of water conservation practices and environmental health for Norman.”

A 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winner will be named in each age category (K-1st, 2nd-3rd, 4th-5th) as well as, an overall winner. All submitted artwork will be on display at STASH during 2nd Friday Art Walk on April 13. Artwork from the overall winner will be printed on the 2018 Earth Day t-shirts. Additionally, prizes will be awarded to students and teachers during the City’s Earth Day Festival on April 22 at Reeves Park.

The Environmental Control Advisory Board investigates, prepares plans for, and recommends programs regarding the preservation and enhancement of the environmental quality of the City. This Board meets the 3rd Wednesday of each month (with exception for Holidays) at 5:30 p.m., Norman Municipal Building Study Session Room, 201 West Gray.
