Emergency Closure of Acres Street Railroad Crossing

Wednesday night BNSF Railway closed Acres Street at the railroad tracks to perform emergency maintenance to their track structure. BNSF expected this temporary road closure to take three hours but they experienced an unforeseen equipment failure which necessitated the closing of the crossing throughout the day today and overnight. BNSF anticipates having the crossing repaired and opened to all traffic by 6 a.m. tomorrow.

The City of Norman was not provided advance notice of this temporary road closure, however city staff is now working closely with BNSF to expedite the re-opening of Acres Street.
