Job Description
Duties: 
Responsible for working in a community center for the public and dealing with a variety of age groups, agencies, and external organizations. Assists the Recreation Center Supervisor with organizing activities and programs and providing recreational opportunities, outreach programs and other services. Opens and closes the Center in the absence of the supervisor. Performs other duties as requested by the Recreation Center Supervisor or Recreation Superintendent.
Working Conditions: 
Works in a community center environment; however, time is spent outside (approximately 10% to 25% of the time) exposed to temperature extremes, dirt, dust, noise, etc.
Job Requirements
Education and Experience: 
Applicant must have a high school diploma or equivalent and experience working with the public.
Knowledge: 
Recreation activities and programs, library services, and outreach and referral to appropriate agencies or programs and services.
Skills: 
Computer usage. Oral communication. Interpersonal skills necessary to be courteous of fellow employees and the public while performing duties.
Mental & Physical: 
Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail for up to 50% of the work day. Ability to lift and carry light (up to 25 lbs.) supplies, materials, and equipment frequently. Ability to lift and carry moderately heavy (25-50 lbs.) supplies, materials and equipment occasionally. Work requires continued walking, stooping, standing, and some climbing. The applicant must have the ability to maintain regular, predictable and punctual attendance.
