Job Description
Duties: 
Primary duties include related tasks associated with maintaining Central Files, i.e., filing, coding, researching, and scanning. Types purchase requisitions, letters, memoranda, reports, and other material from copy, rough draft, or transcribes from dictating equipment. Responsible for ordering and inventory control. Scans and operates scanning equipment, reader printer, scanner, and copier. Provide staff support for City Council sub-committee. Serves as backup for primary record-keeper, licensing clerk, and receptionist. Uses terminal for cable television programming. Provides clerical assistance and related work for City Clerk’s Office. Performs other related work as required.
Working Conditions: 
Work is performed in a normal office environment.
Job Requirements
Education and Experience: 
High school diploma or equivalent. One year of experience in general office practices, procedures, and equipment or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Knowledge: 
Office administration and secretarial practices and procedures; recordkeeping, report preparation, filing methods, and records management techniques; correct English usage; standard business arithmetic; basic accounting methods and procedures; and knowledge of standard office machines and equipment. Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Skills: 
Typing at rate of 50 net words per minute. Analytical skills to perform calculations for accounting and record keeping. Interpersonal skills to effectively interact with City employees and public. Organizational skills for maintenance of permanent records and research capabilities. Excellent spelling skills.
Mental & Physical: 
Receive and follow oral and written instructions; use resourcefulness and tact with public contacts under limited supervision; pay close attention to detail; work under stressful conditions and meet deadlines in a timely manner; undertake responsibility of increasing variety with initiative and good judgement; and adhere to prescribed departmental routine. Ability to learn in a reasonable amount of time the function of City government in order to effectively provide assistance to citizens and City employees. Must be able to bend to a minimum height of six inches and be able to use a ladder to reach a maximum of ten (10) feet in order to perform filing duties. Ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance.
