Councilmember Hickman to host meeting for Ward 4 residents

Norman City Councilman Bill Hickman is hosting a town hall meeting for residents of Ward 4 on Thursday. The meeting is from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the City Council Chambers at city hall, 201 W. Gray.

Free, Family-friendly Festivities begin Friday

The Norman Parks and Recreation Department is hosting free, family-friendly holiday events, starting with Winterfest this Friday at Legacy Park from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.  The event will include free hot chocolate and cookies, inflatables, and holiday-themed arts and crafts. 

"Talking Turkey" about Thanksgiving FOG

You’ve deep fried your Thanksgiving turkey and now what do you do with the leftovers – not the meal leftovers but the cooking oil from the deep fryer? This year make the decision to go cold turkey. Don’t pour any of it down the sink. You’ve got leftover oil and grease but thankfully, the City of Norman’s Utilities Department has that covered with tips and solutions for disposing of it.

Sanitation services schedule shifts due to Thanksgiving holiday

The City of Norman sanitation services will be closed on Thanksgiving. Customers with Thursday collection will have waste picked up on Friday. Customers who normally have Friday service will have their waste collected on Saturday.

City administrative offices will be closed Thursday and Friday for the Thanksgiving holiday.

Sequential lane closures on 24th Avenue, north of Robinson on Tuesday

There will be temporary lane closures on 24th Avenue NW just north of Robison Street. beginning Tuesday from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.  Lane closures will be as brief as possible and only one lane will be affected at a time.  

Weekly Yard Waste Collection is Now Year Round

The Norman City Council recently amended the ordinance pertaining to the pick-up of yard waste to include year-round weekly collection.  This schedule replaces the previous winter months’ collection that was monthly during December, January and February. 

Norman Veterans Day and Memorial Ceremony is Sunday

The Norman Veterans Day and Memorial Ceremony is Sunday at Reaves Park, 2501 S. Jenkins Ave. The static displays open at 1 p.m. and the ceremony is from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Robinson Street from 24th Ave NE to 36th Ave NE to close Thursday

Robinson Street from 24th Avenue NE to 36th Avenue NE will close Thursday at 7 a.m. and remain closed until Nov. 16.  The closure will allow a damaged section of Robinson Street to be repaired.

Only local traffic will be allowed to enter at 36th Avenue NE and Robinson to access the Frost Creek subdivision and the Norman Water Treatment Plant.  

Sanitation services to stay on schedule for Veterans Day holiday

City administrative offices to be closed on November 10

The City of Norman sanitation services will maintain the regular schedule for the Veterans Day holiday observed on Friday, Nov. 10. Sanitation services include commercial and residential curbside waste collection, as well as recycling and yard waste.
