McGee Drive at Boyd Street to Close Monday

McGee Drive at Boyd Street will close at approximately 9 a.m. Monday for a project to complete the lowering of the waterline at this location, and in preparation for installing the new stormwater drainage box to relieve flooding in the area. The street will reopen at 8 a.m. on June 12.

Griffin Park Sports Complex Master Plan Presentation

The public is invited to attend a presentation of the proposed Griffin Park Sports Complex Master Plan Thursday at 5:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers as part of the June City of Norman Board of Parks Commissioners meeting. The City Council Chambers are in the municipal complex at 201 W. Gray.

Splash pads open Memorial Day weekend

The City of Norman splash pads at Andrews Park and Colonial Estates Park open Memorial Day weekend.  The splash pads are free and are open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. seven days a week. 

Andrews Park is located at 201 W. Daws; Colonial Estates Park is at 1641 E. Lindsey.

Main and Lahoma street closures between Flood and Park continue

Main Street, for the two block segment located between Park and Flood, will continue to be partially closed for the installation of a new 16-inch water transmission line in the eastbound lanes of Main Street. One lane of traffic in each direction will remain open by shifting both east and westbound traffic to the two northern-most lanes.

West Brooks Street, McGee Drive to close Tuesday

West Brooks Street at McGee Drive will close Tuesday for a project to install a new storm drainage box across West Brooks Street. The project is expected to be competed and the street reopened at 8 a.m. Thursday.

BNSF to begin repairs on Rock Creek railroad crossing Tuesday

BNSF Railway will begin repairs Tuesday morning on the railroad track crossing on Rock Creek Road between Flood Street and 12 Avenue NW. The entire railroad crossing will be closed to through traffic during the repair, which is expected to be completed by Friday evening.

UPDATE: Second, and final, pass for tree debris removal through most impacted area begins Tuesday

The City of Norman is finishing the first week of removal of storm-damaged tree debris in the area most impacted by last week’s storms and high winds. The second, and final, pass to remove tree debris in this area begins Tuesday.

Peters Avenue and Comanche Streets to be repaved starting this evening

A contractor for the City of Norman will begin milling the existing asphalt driving surface on Peters Avenue between Gray and Eufaula Street this evening at 6 p.m., weather permitting.
