120th Avenue SE between Post Oak Road and Etowah Road to close Thursday

Starting at approximately 9 a.m. Thursday, 120th Avenue SE will close between Post Oak Road and Etowah Road to allow for cross drain installations along this mile segment of roadway. The work is estimated to take one week and is part of several other disaster relief projects in rural Norman.

City of Norman winter schedule for yard waste collection starts in December

During the winter months, the city of Norman collects yard waste monthly rather than weekly. The monthly pick up starts in December and extends through the months of January and February. The monthly collection is the first full week of each month and the service is on the resident’s regularly scheduled yard waste day.

Public meeting Monday to discuss proposed reduction in lanes on portions of Main and Gray

Norman residents are invited to attend a public meeting Monday at 6 p.m. in the City Council Chambers at 201 W. Gray for city officials to share information about a proposed plan to reduce the number of lanes of traffic on the one-way portions of Main Street and Gray Street.

Eastbound lane of Robinson from 24th Avenue NW to Westwood Tennis Center to close Monday

The eastbound lane to Robinson from 24th Avenue NW to Westwood Tennis Center will be reduced to one lane starting at 7 a.m. Monday. The lane will be closed intermittently until Dec. 12. The lane closure allows installation of the next phase of the new 12-inch waterline along Robinson.

Pickard Avenue to close Wednesday between Gray Street and Kansas Street

Pickard Avenue between Gray Street and Kansas Street will be closed Wednesday from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. during removal of the east end zone score board at Norman High School football field.

Traffic control devices will be installed to direct motorists and protect the public.

Sanitation services schedule shifts due to Thanksgiving holiday

City administrative offices to be closed Thursday and Friday

The City of Norman sanitation services will be closed on Thanksgiving. Customers with Thursday collection will have waste picked up on Friday. Customers with Friday service will have their waste collected on Saturday.

Westbound Traffic on Gray Street to be diverted temporarily Thursday

Thursday from 10 a.m. until noon, the outside westbound lane of Gray Street, just east of Santa Fe Avenue, will be diverted into the inside westbound lane. This lane diversion will allow a crane to lift replacement air conditioning units onto the roof of the United States Post Office on Gray Street.

Outside lane of northbound Porter Avenue, north of Rock Creek, closed through Saturday

Effective immediately, during daylight hours, the outside (right) lane of Porter Avenue northbound is closed near the creek crossing north of Rock Creek Road. The lane closure is to allow the Norman Utilities Authority to replace a sewer line across Porter.

Weather permitting, work should be complete and the lane re-opened by Saturday.

New traffic signal to be activated at Rock Creek Road and Sequoyah Trail

The City of Norman will activate the new traffic signal at the intersection of Rock Creek Road and Sequoyah Trail on Wednesday (November 16), weather permitting. After 9 a.m., the intersection may be controlled by all-way stop control as the contractor works in the intersection to install new pavement markings and complete the signal activation.

108th Avenue SE, south of SH-9, to close Thursday

Starting at 9 a.m. Thursday, 108th Avenue SE will close at approximately 1,000 feet south of SH-9 to allow for the installation of a large cross drain. The project is estimated to take four weeks to complete and is part of other improvements currently underway on 108th Avenue SE between SH-9 and Etowah Road.

Westbound Robinson to close at Woods starting Wednesday

City of Norman crews will close the westbound outside lane of Robinson Street at Woods Avenue Wednesday at 8 a.m. , if weather permits. The closure will allow crews to repair three manholes in the lane of travel. The repairs will improve the ride quality of the road in this area of Robinson Street.

The lane will be reopened to traffic on Friday by 3 p.m.
